The Yucatan is the legendary land of the sun and relaxation. Cozumel was a Mayan providence and it means the land of the swallow. Is the biggest Mexican island of the Caribbean. It is also the most populated. Cozumel is located 18 Km (11 miles) from the Yucatan peninsula. It is 56 Km (90 miles) from north to south and 14 Km (9 miles) from east to west, and a total 500 square Km. (340 sq miles).
Few places can bring together history, beaches, beautiful nature, exotic cuisine, and the traditional hospitality of its people.
During the past 20 centuries the habitants of this island have practiced the art of living, creating, and constructing on this land. This Mexican region possesses one the most striking archeological Mayan structures that are still appreciated by mankind.
Cozumel possesses an amazing underwater world. It has the biggest coral reef in the Western hemisphere that extends 320 Km (515 miles) from Isla de las Mujeres to the Bay of Honduras.
Despite all the modern accommodations, Cozumel has not lost its flavor. It conserves that tranquility and enchantment of a small island. Practically half of its surface has been made into a national park.
