Thailand is an amazing place that possesses beautiful temples, archeological ruins, marvelous beaches, good food and adventure.

Thailand was known as Siam until 1939. It borders with Malaysia, Burma, Laos, and Cambodia. To the east is the Gulf of Thailand, and to the west is the Sea of Andaman.

Tropical jungles cover one fourth of Thailand. The country has a great variety of fruit plants, bamboo, and tropical trees. There are more than 850 different kinds of birds. Also tigers, leopards, elephants, and black Asian bears. There are 66 national parks and 32 animal sanctuaries that cover 11% of its national land.

Bangkok is the capital of Thailand. It is a huge metropolis with great treasures, culture, lots of energy, and mind-bogging traffic. It has a system of canals that are forms of transportation. The floating markets of Dammon Sadual, the Grand Palace, Khao San Road in Banglampoo, and the grand market of Pratunam are a must. The markets are known for its imitation brand names and for the outrageous low prices.

The Beaches: The most popular beaches are Phuket, Krabi, Kho Phi Phi, Kho Samui, Kho Pangan, Kho Thao, and Kho Lanta. In all these beaches, diving can be done. As well as any other aquatic sports. The best diving in Thailand are in the Andaman Sea, north of Phuket towards Burma.

The North: Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai are the best spots to get a glimpse into the culture of the Thai's. Rafting on bamboo, visit small tribes, ride elephants, and visit the national park.
